After meeting all the technical requirements and obtaining a permit for exporting products of animal origin, Tuzla International Airport established charter cargo flights to Istanbul in June 2016. Turkish Airlines have performed all the operations, after a contract between the two sides was signed.
A cooling storage facility covering an area of 140 square meters with a storage temperature range from -18 to +8 °C was built with a purpose of properly storing perishable goods.
In the period from June to November 2016, Tuzla International Airport has successfully handled 82 aircrafts type A330-200F operated by Turkish Airlines. It is expected that around 90 flights will be serviced by the end of the year.
